LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) The 150th Kentucky Derby produced one of the most dramatic finishes in its storied history three noses at the wire.
Mystik Dan desperately fought to hang on with two challengers coming to him in the closing strides. He did, too, after a delay of several minutes while the closest three-horse photo finish since 1947 was sorted out.
That year, Jet Pilot won by a head over Phalanx, who was another head in front of Faultless.
This one was much tighter.

Reckless, but it paid off :/

Very exciting finish!

(12,435 posts)Only chose him because my grandsons name is Daniel. I even went as far as filling out half an online bet form but in the end decided that even the $25 minimum bet was too much to lose, since the horse was so far down the list of winners.
Well, I did win a dollar and family bragging rights. And a lump on my forehead from banging my head against the wall.

(28,291 posts)Just happened to tune in, about a minute before the race commenced. Thanks for nothing, sports shows---I missed all the hours of endless silly hats, bourbon drinking, and inane commentary. Congrats, Mystik Dan.
Horses continue to die and continue to suffer in the name of racing. But sure yack it up, place your bets and have your fun.
