(31,893 posts)I just peeked at the thermometer on my porch as it edges back down to -20 (or lower) for the overnight low (for the 3rd night in a row), and then saw this post from you.
I'm happy here in Minnesota, however, I also have fond memories of California. Many years ago I lived in Venice (1970-71), later in the Santa Cruz mountains (1973), and still later Bolinas (1987). During these times I also traveled most of the length of the state - from the border crossing with Tijuana to Mount Shasta, to the border with Oregon. I've spent time in Long Beach, Redondo Beach, Malibu, Big Sur, and San Francisco. Gotten gigglingly drunk tasting the wares at a winery in Napa Valley - which is the memory most strongly stimulated by the photo in your post.
Anyway, California will always be a part of me - I'll always be grateful for the times I spent in that magical place. These are fine memories to mentally page through on a cold night such as this.
