Was listening to @amjoyshow & pleasantly surprised to hear that current US Ambassador to Russia @JonHuntsman who is universally viewed as incredibly ethical & smart approved sign off on #UraniumOne deal in 2007 while Governor of Utah @brianefallon @ShepNewsTeam

This was already thoroughly investigated. Huntsman and multiple agencies signed off on the deal. Nothing but a distraction. @SethAbramson

Funny. Folks were saying the same thing about Mueller less than a year ago. Let the character assassination begin.

Jeff Sessions pledged to recuse himself from all matters involving Hillary Clinton and her foundation.
He has now violated that pledge.

For weeks, critics of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Trump administration have pushed a widely debunked conspiracy theory that she sold 20 percent of Americas uranium to Russia in exchange for a large donation to the Clinton Foundation.
On Thursday, NBC News reported that, on orders from Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the Department of Justices prosecutors have begun asking FBI agents to explain the evidence they found in a now-dormant criminal investigation into a controversial uranium deal that critics have linked to Bill and Hillary Clinton.
The problem is that Jeff Sessions wasnt supposed to be involved in decisions about Clinton and her foundation at all: he swore under oath in January that he would recuse himself from all such decisions, in light of his comments during the campaign. During his confirmation hearing, he told the Senate Judiciary Committee:
With regard to Secretary Clinton and some of the comments I made, I do believe that that could place my objectivity in question. Ive given that thought. I believe the proper thing for me to do, would be to recuse myself from any questions involving those kind of investigations that involve Secretary Clinton and that were raised during the campaign or to be otherwise connected to it.
Though Donald Trump claimed shortly after the election that he did not want to hurt the Clintons, he has continued to attack her regularly since taking office, suggesting she should be investigated and publicly lamenting that as president he is not supposed to meddle in criminal investigations.......................................

(6,050 posts)Huntsman was named by Trump as ambassador to Russia and Huntsman family has business interests in Russia
So the trump administration and the republican congress has validated that that uranium deal.

But as Vox's Zack Beauchamp and others have written, the choice is confusing because Huntsman does not speak Russian and is not "a Russia expert, or anything close." Huntsman's experience in Russia appears to be limited to his business interests there. A company owned by Huntsmans family does business in Russia, and he has traveled to that country in that capacity, report The Post's Abby Phillip and Lisa Rein.
And for the past three years, Huntsman has served on the board of directors of Chevron, the second largest U.S. oil and gas company and one of the biggest corporations affected by curent U.S. sanctions against Russia.
