https://www.rawstory.com/2018/01/roy-moore-accuser-tina-johnson-loses-everything-after-home-burns-down-in-suspected-arson/?comments=disqus"The home of Tina Johnson, one of the women who accused former Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore of inappropriate sexual contact, has been burned down in a suspected arson.
As AL.com reported, the Tuesday morning fire that burned almost all of Johnsons home in Gadsden, Alabama is under investigation by the Etowah County Arson Task Force.
Though all their belongings were destroyed in the fire, Johnson, her husband and their grandson that lives with them were all out of the house when the fire was set.
I am devastated, just devastated, Johnson said. We have just the clothes on our backs.
We can't be certain, but it looks like this was deliberate arson. The deplorables are showing that they are willing to resort to violence if they don't get what they want.

(58,785 posts)Living in the south, I suspect very differing, defining responses of Alabamans, and other conservatives, will be the most positive outcome of this. The nasties normally speak out, fervently, and decent, habitually mannered people tend to stay relatively quiet until with a few friends. But gentle contradictions are made when things become just too indecent, and I imagine this family will have plenty of sympathy and the criminal very little.
After all, Doug Jones won with a message of inclusive decency against Roy Moore's very different one. This underlines that difference.

(2,857 posts)The neighbor said he came over to her asking before there were any flames visible if she thought it would burn down.
The Moore supporters are gloating so bad it is pathetic. They say it is karma. I told them they had yet to see karma, but they would.

(298,049 posts)There was a fire that was very close to our house in Asheville, NC, back in the 70s, that left me with that feeling,.. as we evacuated, hoping the Fire Dept would put it out in time. It came right up to the back yard from the woods.
I'm the one who alerted them that their practice fire had gotten out of control.
I wish the best for Tina Johnson

(298,049 posts)through the big bay window looking out on the 7 acres of woods, and I went to investigate and saw a fire starting up. There were firemen further down practicing putting out a fire, it turned out.. and when I shouted at them about what I saw.. they yelled back that they knew about it.. I turned around and pointed up hill and asked if they knew about that one?!
They started scrambling and running up the hill.. the winds were high that day. We had Montessori kids using our home, too.. so we evacuated all of them to the park nearby. I feel fortunate I saw it when I did.

(3,433 posts)We need to call it terrorism if it is related. If not we shouldn't mislabel it as such.
Thank you for that info.

She said a woman neighbor told her that the young man in question approached her as she was getting in her car that morning and asked if she thought Johnson's house was going to burn. The neighbor didn't know what he was talking about, she said, because flames weren't visible at the time.

(347 posts)Preliminary investigation suggests this may have been done by a local fellow who was known to drink and who was seen around the house asking about burning.
Now, this may be a single incident, not related to her charges against Moore. However, the prudent source of action would be for the rest of the women molested by Moore to sleep with one eye open. Let's watch them to see if anything bad happens over the next few months.
As Ian Fleming said: Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action.

(3,284 posts)This may be an extreme case, but I'm so tired of hearing that question. I'm sure the right wing nut job that perpetrated this attack feels like he or she is justified because Doug Jones eats raw babies for lunch or whatever, but here's a woman who was brave enough to come forward about a sexual assault by a powerful man, and this is the lengths that some people will go to to make women stop talking, to frighten them into not coming forward.

B. Really show his christian heart by inviting them to stay with him for a week or two.
C. Put on his robes and head to the nearest cross burning to celebrate.
