45 and magical thinking.

I've been reading articles about toddlers and magical thinking. For those of us who have been around children we know it's a normal and fun part of childhood. Toddlers, being naturally egocentric, may at times believe, "If I say it, it so". It can come and go as children age (i.e., Santa Claus may hang around a while). Normally, in healthy children, it disappears altogether around six or seven. Seeing it in older children and adults can be a sign of OCD or more serious pathology.

Trump's tweet after hearing how he is perceived as stupid and emotional unstable, "I think I'm not just smart, but a genius, and a very stable genius at that." in his mind, fixes everything; it makes the criticism go away. "If I say it, it is so." Emotionally he is, indeed, a toddler. Just terrifying.
