To help memorize the books of the New testament, right?

(". . Acts, Romans, two Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, first and second Thessalonians. First Timothy, second Timothy, . . .)

The double chapters are handled differently, as needed for the sing-sing rhythm. (3 variations included above).

He would likely also refer to Three John, if quoting the book third from the end of the New testament, for the same reason.
