General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsABC, CBS and NBC finally went there. Extensive and negative and truthful coverage of the
nationwide concern for the fake President's mental stability, including current and historical evidence of same. NBC went so far as to quote Wolff about WH senior staff and cabinet discussing the 25th Amendment and how that would be triggered. Found it all refreshing.
Has the corporate media also had enough of the very unstable moron, corporate tax cuts in hand? Cross my fingers. Might have been worth it then.
Looking forward to the mandatory physical this Friday, maybe the WH physician could sneak in a few questions and personal observations regarding what all of America wants to know...WTF is up with this guy?

(9,137 posts)I'm not surprised that NBC has found at least some small measure of courage, considering what I've heard on NBC cable, but I'm surprised that the timid souls of CBS and ABC have decided to follow suit? What happened? Did they forget to put on their chicken suits?

Although a News Special is needed on the topic. "Is President* Trump Mentally Fit for Office", which would make for a highly rated one hour.

(82,849 posts)This is a salutary development, even if it is many, many months late. I wonder if there was a precipitating event? Was it just the Wolff book, or is that just the latest in a series of occurrences that finally persuaded the popular media to criticize the commander in thief?

(51,653 posts)for 30 years if a psychiatric examination would be included in the physical and would the results be made available to the public. She answered/lies that he would "have to ask the president that question himself". More BS.
The 25th will never be used, His cabinet kisses his ass and his ring. Same with the current GOP Congress. This is why we have to do everything possible to win the midterms.
I read a good article about this. It is long but worth the read.

I asked him if anyone had failed it and he said yes, and really hard if it is with someone he has known for years. Usually it is with the clock question. Apparently it asks for both left and right brain stuff in a very simple way.
Someday they will have to change that part when people no longer use analog at all. My granddaughter can, but very few clocks do in her world anymore.

(1,333 posts)There are some simple mental tests that could almost be given during the exam. Asking someone to repeat numbers back after a few minutes. Asking a patient to repeat words back in a certain order, that sort of thing.

For example, lawyers, psychologists, people who grew up in the projects, AAs...in other words, street savvy people, who tend to distrust authority. Most people who have had much experience, or experiences, with authority figures have a healthy distrust. Most politicians are pretty savvy.
It would be hard to tease out some of the craziness, but maybe the paranoia, and delusions of grandeur would show. My bet is the average Joe Blow who voted for Trump kind of liked his delusions of grandeur...it flies in the face of Dem wonky fact checkers.

(5,815 posts)He knows the doctor can make SOME evaluation about his mental status by how he responds to normal questions he could be asked during the exam. Answers regarding how he feels (in general), any new problems or pain, etc. could be clues to his mental acuity, his hearing and ability to focus. Yes, a full mental examination would be ideal, but a good doctor would be able to slip in questions that could be similar to a mini mental.
tRump is a well practiced narcissist who may also have other personality issues (disorders) complicating his mental profile. He can charm the birds out of the trees when it suits his purpose. I find his so-called charming side to be off putting and phony, but it passes for normal in many situations. So you can bet that he will be on his best behavior with the doctor, he will co-operate and do as he is asked. I expect no great revelations from this examination other than to confirm what we already know. He is overweight and pudgy in places that are not healthy. His diet is atrocious and he is not likely to give up his beautiful chocolate cake and two scoops of his favorite ice cream. And no, the doctor wont tell us that tRump should be removed from office for mental health reasons. tRump is a sneaky bastard and knows he needs to behave for this exam. Expect no surprises or great revelations, that is IF we ever get any of the details regarding Dear Leaders Health.
