On the accuracy of the document:
Q. So in an August 1, 2017 news briefing
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders
said "The Democrat linked firm Fusion GPS actually
took money from the Russian government while it
created the phoney dossier that's been the basis
for all of the Russia scandal fake news." What is
your response to that statement?
A. It's not true?
Q. And what in particular is not true about
it?
A. Well, it's a false allegation leveled by
William Browder before this committee and in other
places for the purpose of his advantage. She's
repeating an allegation that was aired before this
committee and in other places that we were working
for the Russian government and it's not true.
Most importantly the allegation that we were
working for the Russian government then or ever is
simply not true. I don't know what to say. It's
political rhetoric to call the dossier phoney. The
memos are field reports of real interviews that
Chris's network conducted and there's nothing
phoney about it. We can argue about what's prudent
and what's not, but it's not a fabrication.
...
Chris was, you know, a person
who delivered quality work in very appropriate
ways.
So -- I mean, I hope you won't be insulted,
but he's basically a Boy Scout. You know, he
worked for the government for a very long time. He
lives a very modest, quiet life, and, you know,
this is his specialty.
Glenn Simpson is referring to Christopher Steele of course, the man who gathered the information in the dossier.
And again, in reference to accuracy and confirmed facts in the dossier, this time using Carter Page as an example:
explain to people that's exactly why he would end
up as someone who they would try to co-opt. Of
course, you know, when we talk about things in the
dossier that are confirmed, this is one of the
things that I think really stands out as notable,
which is that Chris identified Carter Page as
someone who had -- seemed to be in the middle of
the campaign, between the Trump campaign and the
Kremlin, and he later turned out to be an espionage
suspect who was, in fact, someone that the FBI had
been investigating for years.

(3,011 posts)about tapes of Russians talking about how easy it was to turn Carter Page. They laughed at him. At the time, it was unproven because the Russians could have been bragging. I guess we now have two data points on Carter.

Is he saying this is Bill Browder having a go at Fusion GPS ? Or SHS misquoting Browder ?

(1,009 posts)twist is utterly confusing. I saw he tweeted something about simpson throwing him under the bus in order to whitewash some of his clients. And yet it makes no sense that gps would be working for the russians in this context. And simpson says in the transcript theyve never worked for russians.
Maybe christopher steele needs to speak out at this point.

(1,009 posts)is a right wing website. I never heard this on mainstream media. Are we sure that convo happened or maybe rewritten and taken out of context. Because I can definitely see the msg being intentional garbled to look like something else on a rw website.

Read the transcript.

(49,075 posts)a client against the Act. It seems that the client was Veselnitskaya (or somebody funding her), the Russian lawyer working for the Kremlin to get the name removed from the Act or the Act repealed.
Fusion GPS has clearly worked for "both sides" and so any Trumpanzee claim that they are partisan would seem to be utter nonsense. Fusion GPS did oppo-research against tRump first for Republicons and then for Democrats.
What legit consulting firm would have a single web page with only an email address? No phone numbers. No names. No list of satisfied clients.

(6,254 posts)I think we would be shocked at the level of ignorance exhibited by Republican lawmakers. I believe they live in a bubble created by RW media outlets and have no real clue about the intricacies of the Russia investigation nor do they attempt to educate themselves. These old men need to retire and I say that as a white middle aged man myself. Good riddance enough is enough

(51,673 posts)I planned to call them all today and I did it on Aug 29 and had all their numbers already. I got voice mails with the first 6 senators and finally got a real staffer at Sasse's office and he told me the news. I couldn't believe the timing. I didn't watch the news since Fuckubee Sanders was on and I muted her as I always do. I am glad I got a staffer before I made the final 5 calls on my list of senators. I called Feinstein to thank her.
This issue has really pissed me off since Aug and then when they all flipped recently and went back on their word about releasing during Aug on live TV!

(2,064 posts)This is one more link tying team Trump to Russia and a very strong one.
Trump may not be directly involved in the collusion, but its very hard to say there was no collusion.
However, hes neck deep in the coverup because this investigation was almost certain to find the money laundering for the Russians.
And it does seem very clear that Putin wanted Trump to win.
Im not 100% sure, but it also seems very likely that Carter Page will be demoted to 3rd assistant coffee boy now.
