As a child of a one time refugee and an immigrant myself, I would like to remind the president that at one time:
The Irish were told not come here and were called names
The Germans were told not to come here and were called names
Jewish people were denied entrance and suffered deeply because of it
Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese and other Asians were referred to in bad terms
Mexicans, El Salvadorans, South Americans were treated with derision
Greeks, Central Europeans, Africans and others were returned to their original nations
as an immigrant child who rocks thrown at him and was spat upon, I would like the President to make a visit to the Statue of Liberty and once again read the words on it's pedestal:
"Give me your tired, your poor,
your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.
the wretched refuse of your teeming shores.
Send these the homeless, tempest tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Please, Mr. President, reflect upon these words...don't be a racist, don't be a xenophobe!
and for once show some compassion, class and dignity1111
