The media have been enabling him for long enough. By that I mean the reporters have been editing his speech and cleaning it up to make it usable in newspapers, magazines and broadcast. They should not have done that, but rather report it word-for-word even when he was campaigning. People would have seen and heard this in plenty of time, and they (enough of them) would not have voted for him. It's that simple.

The Washington press corps is partly to blame for the fiasco we're in right now. I think they finally realize it and some of them are trying to fix it. That's why the public is finally seeing these verbatim quotes that we never saw before. I hope everyone is shocked and disgusted.
