In all fairness, the ending, where it's implied that the president goes down in flames due to his "crimes against the Constitution", essentially lost its relevance during the G. W. Bush administration, but the Trump Administration has shown that a president has virtually nothing to fear, no matter how egregious his crimes might be.

Come up with a character like Trump.

All movies about politicians (be it comedy or thriller) contain some sort of scandal: "Oh my God! Did he really just do that? His career is over if anybody ever finds out!!!"

But that plot will never work again.

Because Trump is proof that a powerful politician can get away with ANYTHING.

e.g. There's a Will Ferrel-movie where he plays a politician and election-season is upcoming and he has a serious contender. There's a scene where he accidently punches a baby on camera.

If Trump would punch a baby:
- the establishment-Republicans would say that it was an accident and we should move on
- the Trump-Republicans would blame the mother for holding the baby in front of Trump's fist
- Fox News would declare that baby-punching is a normal thing and we should move on
- Alex Jones would start a conspiracy-theory how the mother is a Democrat and punched Trump's fist with the baby, to make him look bad. These Liberals stop at nothing to hurt kids!!!
- The Alt-Right would publish personal info of the mother and turn her life into a living hell.



These movies will never work again, because whatever the scandal is, Trump has done worse and survived.
