Samson comes to mind. He took vow to not drink alcohol or cut his hair and lost his strength when Delilah cut his locks

More disturbing though is that she states they used no protection. I would think he would be more concerned with lack of protection with someone in her line of work instead of his professed fear of sharks and having his hair cut.
