Texas judge interrupts jury, says God told him defendant is not guilty

A state district judge in Comal County said God told him to intervene in jury deliberations to sway jurors to return a not guilty verdict in the trial of a Buda woman accused of trafficking a teen girl for sex.

Judge Jack Robison apologized to jurors for the interruption, but defended his actions by telling them “when God tells me I gotta do something, I gotta do it,” according to the Herald-Zeitung in New Braunfels.

The jury went against the judge’s wishes, finding Gloria Romero-Perez guilty of continuous trafficking of a person and later sentenced her to 25 years in prison. They found her not guilty of a separate charge of sale or purchase of a child.

Robison, who also presides in Hays and Caldwell counties, did not respond to a message left with his court coordinator, Steve Thomas, who said the case is still pending. Robison is scheduled to return to the bench in Comal County on Jan. 31.

Why have a criminal justice system at all? Just call Judge Robison and have him use his hotline to the almighty to determine everyone's guilt or innocence. Think of the time and money that would save Texas taxpayers. Appeals would be a snap: "Guilty? You sure, God? Okay! Off with his head!"

If someone with a tin-foil hat claimed satellite dishes were beaming commands from distant aliens to voices inside their head, people would immediately write them off as shithouse rat crazy. Yet some can claim Jesus is beaming commands into their head and they are perceived as completely rational.

The point being if the voices inside the judge’s head weren’t divine in nature, he’d be drummed off the bench in short order.

And been reprimanded. It's in the aticle linked in the OP.

He dd recuse himself from the sentencing phase - as if that would improve things.

Judge Robison was elected to his position. It doesn't surprise me one little bit that a man like this won that office.

Next time, communicate the message of innocence to the DA, so that the indictment isn't brought in the first place. That way there'll be no sinful jury to mess up your commands.
