The University of Washington to provide scholarships to DACA students

The University of Washington and TheDream.US will offer scholarships to qualified undocumented students who graduate from two-year colleges and transfer to UW, the university announced Friday.

“Seeking a better life through education in order to contribute to our society is at the heart of the American Dream. The UW is proud to support that dream for DACA students for whom the United States has been, and is, home,” said UW President Ana Mari Cauce in a statement.

UW says TheDream.com has already provided support for more than 3,000 DACA students. A recent $33 million gift from Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos will allow 1,000 DACA students the opportunity to attend college.

UW will follow-up by providing support to an additional 10 to 20 students each year.
