if he may be buried under a mountain of debt. Maybe he figured the upside to running for President and digging himself out of debt was greater than the potential downside so why not. That would also explain his refusal to release his taxes and the warning to Mueller not to start looking into his finances.

His buildings are leveraged to the hilt, and IIRC the only way banks (even overseas banks; most of his known money comes from Deutsche Bank's private banking arm) will loan him enough money to build is if he makes himself personally liable for a big chunk of it.

I suspect the reason he spends so much time at his properties (where the Secret Service has to pay for room rent, golf carts and so on) is he's diverting the funds to his creditors. This is a job that only pays $400,000 per year, you can't fly on your own gold-plated airplane and they won't let you decorate the White House to look like Caesars Palace (either one), so if it wasn't for the prime opportunities to enrich yourself at the expense of the taxpayer, why would he want that stinking job?

Plus all the free advertising and the $50,000 a head Mar-A-Loco parties and having taxpayers pay all his living expenses.
