I wish I could unsee it.
This whole story is so awful on what this country has become after we had the loveliness of the Obamas. Reminds me of the old song "You don't know what you've got till it's gone. They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."
The way I am feeling post bronchitis on a rainy day and trying to get more energy to do some errands...

(14,970 posts)There is at least one other porn star who had her story buried for a $150k payment by the natl enquirer. There are likely others as well. Some may be dead now however.
And then there are the other potentially ongoing affairs.

(50,328 posts)As a demon atheist, I'm horrified that he would do this at all, but to do it around the time his child was born is taking it to a new level. To think he exposed his wife to who knows what from unprotected sex. Why is the GOP okay with this?

(14,863 posts)That is what they want to believe, so that is what they do believe.
It's nice to see the evangelicals getting exposed, again, as the foul hypocrites that they are. The flock will refuse to see it either in their leaders or in themselves, as usual.

(11,580 posts)let alone repentance...but I bet that's exactly what the T****kins believe.
In a way, it's kind of an ecclesiastical milestone - achieving forgiveness for a major transgression, or two, with no mitigating acts between.

(14,863 posts)Newt Gingrich is the most obvious example I can think of. They never had any problem with all his adultery and shitty behavior toward his wives. They don't even mind that he became a Catholic, even though as far as they are concerned, Catholics aren't really Christians.
It is true that Trump has achieved cult leader status. I suspect they'd let it go even if they find out he'd had gay sex. I don't think they would have let Gingrich off the hook for that.

See how easy that is? It's so easy, evangelicals can master it in less than a minute. (others may take longer)

<snip>
[Evangelical leader] Mike Evans compares [Trump] to King Cyrus in the Bible who helped Israel in ancient times. Evans also says were in the middle of prophecy.
"I will see President Trump Monday. I will be in the White House on Monday and the first word I'm going to send to him, 'Cyrus, you're Cyrus. Because you've done something historic and prophetic,' and he promised us he would do it," Evans said.
"He (Cyrus) saved the Jewish people. He was used as an instrument of God for deliverance in the Bible and God has used this imperfect vessel, this flawed human being like you or I, this imperfect vessel and he's using him in an incredible, amazing way to fulfill his plans and purposes. We are so happy. We couldn't be happier and as somebody who has wanted and prayed and hoped for this for more than forty years, I see us in the middle of prophecy right now," he said.
"This is the beginning of wonderful things. Finally we have a leader with moral clarity who will do the right thing and the righteous thing. And by the way, he's told us over and over only two forces put me in the Presidency, God and the Evangelicals and I'll never forget that," he continued.

(100,145 posts)This is the same bunch who raked Bill Clinton over the rails for an alleged affair. The same bunch who brags that they protect the "sanctity of marriage". Yet Trump had not only an affair, but many affairs and multiple accounts of sexual harassment and assault, and this all but confirms it, and they're like "it's all good". Fucking hypocrites!

(841 posts)But they didn't care. I get that a lot of the men actually saw that as a plus since he lived a life they fantasize about. But how so many Christians see Trump as this great hero I will never know. I have seen Christians argue that Trump is similar to King David in that he is morally flawed but still an instrument of God. But if I remember my Bible correctly the history of the Israelite monarchy was not a happy one so I don't see how this argument makes any sense.
CTyankee
(63,926 posts)I don't know the Bible very well. Trump is trash. King David is morally able to see what his mistake was and repent.
