Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) on Tuesday torched his own partys latest efforts to discredit the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Speaking with CNNs Manu Raju, Burr said that he wasnt very concerned about text messages sent between FBI lawyer Lisa Page and FBI Agent Peter Strzok that the bureau says have gone missing.

Burr also pointedly did not comment about the memo prepared by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) that House Republicans have been hyping as a game changer that will reveal a widespread conspiracy within the FBI and Department of Justice to take down President Donald Trump. Youll have to ask Devin about his memo, Burr said.
Strzok and Page have become lightning rods for Republicans ever since it was revealed that they referred to Trump as an idiot during the 2016 presidential campaign. Strzok was originally part of special counsel Robert Muellers investigative team, but he was removed by Mueller this past summer after the special counsel discovered that the FBI agent had disparaged Trump in text messages.

I.E. exactly what you'd want an impartial investigator to actually do.
