CNN Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr's staff has not been given access to a classified memo drafted by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, a sign of how closely House Republicans are guarding allegations of Justice Department wrongdoing over surveillance activities in the Russia investigation.
According to three sources familiar with the matter, Burr's staff requested a copy of the memo and has been denied, just as the FBI and Justice Department have also been denied reviewing a copy of the document. The memo is based on highly classified intelligence that only a select group of House and Senate lawmakers have accessed.
Indeed, the memo was drafted by Nunes, R-California, and his staff, as the chairman weighs whether to hold a committee vote as early as next week calling for the memo's public release.
The four-page Nunes memo alleges that the FBI withheld information from the FISA court judge who approved warrants on Donald Trump's team, including former campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page, CNN has reported.

media conspiracy theories for tossing to the red meat eaters.
Of course he never expected to release it, just to tease it. But RW media ALSO demanineg to see it was maybe unexpected.
So...release and be embarrassed beyond measure or hold, and be embarrassed beyond measure.
Oh what a web we weave!

(19,205 posts)Charlie Daniels, you know......that bastion of journalistic integrity (or is it fiddle playing?) "released" an "opinion piece" that was picked up by every right-wing propaganda megaphone in the country (and Yahoo "News" as well). It was all about the sorry state of affairs in the FBI, and how there's going to be earth-shattering news coming from the House GOP soon that will rock the very foundation of our Democracy. And he knows this.........how?
No shit, Charlie........it's called the Trump administration. They've been chipping away at the Constitution since his first day in office. Charlie has always been a useful idiot for the right-wing in this country, and it's nice to see some things never change. His picture was printed along with the "opinion piece", dressed in his very best cowboy costume and signature ten gallon hat (with no hair and no brain one wonders what he keeps under there?). I know Charlie Daniels is ALWAYS the first source I check for questions on Constitutionally hot topics.
And right-wingers always complain about the people in "Hollyweird" injecting their beliefs into political discussions. At least they're intelligent and painfully aware of the right-wing fascists are trying to do to our country.
Charlie's brain isn't known for being a giant depository of stored knowledge. It's more of a noisemaker he uses on stage to accompany his fiddle playing. It gives off a faint rattling noise, similar to a pea in a steamer trunk.

(14,096 posts)The data that Rosenstein went to Ryan about so that they didn't have to show it to Nunes? Nunes is certifiable, he belongs in a mental institution, not heading a government intelligence committee.

(13,527 posts)this Nunes character cooked up, and then with the help of numerous bots, he (and whoever he works for) got releasethememo trending on twitter a couple days ago - I kinda watched it as it burgeoned, dont know if you heard about that -
At any rate, Sen. Feinstein and another Dem are looking into how exactly a bogus twitter trend proliferates like that - appears to be an extremely coordinated effort - no secret that this happens, no surprise in these days and times, but releasethememo went from 0-120mph in a matter of minutes...maybe some good info can come of that occurrence-

(5,969 posts)I don't use Twitter myself but are the Trump bots still demanding the release of this memo? It was always funny hearing that demand as if the Dems were blocking it to hide something when it was fabricated by a Repub and that the Repubs could have taken steps to declassify it. Unbelievable how people cannot use simple logic. If it was what Nunes pretends it is, it would have been already leaked.

..law if the memo is fraudulent? Or if it's part of an attempt to obstruct Mueller/justice? Isn't it sort of like inventing evidence in the course of an investigation?

(562 posts)I'm no genius, but a memo you don't reveal to anybody has pretty limited propaganda value.
There will be excitement, then the inevitable disappointment if/when it amounts to nothing of real substance.
He's then doing dems a favor by deflating the Trump troops, looking like a complete ass again, and giving the Russian investigation even more momentum.
It reminds me of a Lincoln quote - "better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

(347 posts). . . where the Potomac River enters the Chesapeake Bay.
In an adjoining county is my favorite flake, a wackadoodle woman named Catherine Crabill. Google her -- she's a N U T -- she's nuttier than a porta-pottie at a peanut festival.
She has a letter to the editor in our local weekly paper today -- I'm trying to find a copy of it online to post, otherwise, I'll scan it and post it. She no doubt is getting her material from the insane side of the 'net. Among her claims are:
-- The Clinton Foundation received $149 million campaign donation from Russia
-- Mueller made a secret trip to Russia to coordinate an attack on Trump
-- FBI agents held hundreds of "off-site" meetings to plot how to destroy Trump
I suspect she has seen the memo!!!
This may be the source of some of the bullshit being thrown at Mueller:
