It puzzled me why the Repubs are all getting behind trump when before some criticized him. Now I

think what motivates them is the belief that they are going to lose much of their control with the Nov '16 elections.

If I am right they will spend this year doing as much damage as they can to the integrity of institutions we rely on.

The idea is to create such disrespect for our government institutions that they will not be effective if Dems are in control. It is their way to spike any rebuilding of the government after their destructive era.

A month before Donald Trump clinched the Republican nomination, one of his closest allies in Congress — House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy — made a politically explosive assertion in a private conversation on Capitol Hill with his fellow GOP leaders: that Trump could be the beneficiary of payments from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016, exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is a Californian Republican known in Congress as a fervent defender of Putin and Russia.

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthy’s assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.

it's not just Trump who's likely to go down, and not even limited to the executive branch.

and when the smoke clears, quite a few Republicans will have been smeared, and not just the ones in office. All those who are turning for Mueller, you don’t think they had a sudden attack of conscienceitis, do you? He has something on them, and he is using it to good effect.

Some of these people really don't like to lose that much. The farther they go, the worse they demonize us to justify their actions.

As for limits, we know a certain dangerous subtype gives guardianship of their consciences to their chosen leader and depends on him to determine limits. Their role is unquestioning strong support.

"It’s been noted that if 25% of the American population is always ready to vote for a dictator, that’s half-way to a majority. If the “right” kind of crisis comes along, it could create enough newly panicked citizens to vote a tyrant into office who would overthrow the Constitution, the rule of law, you name it."

Fascinating read, guaranteed to cut through some of the confusion.

They can continue to collect Putin/NRA Roubles as long as they keep up the obstruction. If they stop, the Roubles stop and the Kompromat comes out.
