How the Democratic Party became the new "Pro-Life" Party??

For decades, Republicans have used the issue of abortion as a fire-starter under their supporters. For some unexplained reason, the number of abortions seemed to decrease when Democrats were in power.

But nowadays, there are fewer and fewer places where women can get an abortion. Republicans are working very hard to close down the last remaining clinics in some states.

But they have failed as the "pro-life" Party.

They have been against healthcare for the poor, as witnessed by their votes against Obamacare. Some poor people had health insurance for the first time in their lives. That could hardly be defined as a "pro-life" position by the Republicans.

They have repealed regulations that affect the health of all Americans. The air and water is not as clean when Republicans are in charge. Coal mine operators have had regulations removed from their sledge ponds that threaten the waters in some states.

Their plan is to cut off many Americans from Medicaid and food stamps. This will directly affect the lives of these individuals. It is hardly "pro-life".

There are many examples where Republican policies are affecting the lives of everyday Americans. It would be fraudulent to call them the"Pro-Life" Party anymore.

In reality, it is the Democratic Party that represents policies that are "pro-life" for the American people. This may seem like an absurd argument but I think it is true.

I agree with everything you say here, and I believe the irony is in the term "Pro-Life." The conservatives should not be allowed to call themselves that, because they are in fact "anti-abortion," not "Pro-Life."

I believe this all came about when the Pro-Choice group coopted that term and the anti-abortionists didn't want to become the "Anti-Choice" people. So they coined the fake name Pro-Life and we let them have it. We need to call them what they are, which is RWNJ anti-abortionists.

They don't want women to have the full range of choices. They only want them to have choices that THEY approve.
