That seems to be Donald Trump's latest argument?
As if, "I fight back" is a legitimate argument for obstructing justice? When he publicly tweets and shamelessly attacks our Justice Department and our FBI. And when he gets his Atty General and assorted Congressmen to do his dirty work in private. And when he demands loyalty from the leaders of our Justice Department, and cover for any possible illegalities, it is not just "fighting back". It is flaunting the law and making a mockery of justice.
When he interferes in any way with a legal investigation, it is obstruction. In our country, up to this point, no one is above the law. We will soon discover if that includes Donald J Trump?

(30,613 posts)It must be a little bit depressing for Mueller to be investigating such an easy target.

(22,074 posts)Although I get your point, I don't think the investigators are depressed. Robert Mueller and his team must be appalled, shocked and disgusted by the breadth of malfeasance they are discovering. I just hope it all comes out, the Russians are exposed and the GOP abetters are all charged.

(30,613 posts)I just meant "Such an easy target, where's the challenge in that?" But of course there is a lot that's not easy here; the main problem being that the RePutin party is dumbing down the American public to the point where the very concept of crime is vague in the minds of the Despicable Disposable Deplorables.

(22,074 posts)Wonderful alliteration! I might add Disgusting Dumbass Douchebags that are Dangerous.
To be clear, I kind of laughed at your previous post, lagomorph777. I've also thought that going after Trump is like shooting fish in the barrel.
I think the biggest challenge Mr. Mueller faces is articulating the specific crimes Trump & Co. have committed. For example, there isn't a crime called collusion. In fact, it may be that there won't be any charges regarding the Russians. After all, Manafort and Gates are charged with financial crimes. Flynn and Papadopolous pled to lying to the FBI. Trump's finances are ripe for investigating. Perhaps that's where the investigation will go.
lagomorph777
(30,613 posts)And right, "No collusion!" is a pointless slogan because collusion has no legal meaning. He might be more to the point to say "No money laundering!" "No lifted sanctions for stolen data!" - but that would be cutting it a bit close...

(29,243 posts)that they have been put in charge of a large private corporation and that as the new owners, they can hire and fire anyone who isn't loyal to the new owners and that, much like Trump Inc., they can break any law so long as they get away with it ( only NOW the people that would stop them ARE part of the company they took over )
So it is anything goes.

(111,111 posts)About when he "fights back" they call it "obstruction".
So, to me, that seems to be his argument.

(38,458 posts)Yes, that is his argument, I agree with you.
And he can use that as much as he likes/wants. But, if that action is against the "law"..which many of us think it is, then Mueller and his team will indict him. That team knows a whole lot about people who ..have broken the law in a "HUGE" number of ways, some obvious, and some ways not so obvious.
In fact, Mueller's team maybe be just as good at going against those who "break the law" as Trump and his group are at lying. Further, Mueller's team might, just might, have more "integrity" at dealing with the "law" than Trump's group.
But I am not the judge here. And there will be a judge if Trump is indicted. What a show..!!! time for

(8,632 posts)Mueller would just sit there silently, then maybe wrap things up saying, "I appreciate your candor in this matter."
Meanwhile, the rest of the sane universe would have the same reaction as Michael Clayton: "You're so fucked!"
