I have no words as to how this would blow up spectacularly in his face.

(11,760 posts)What charge would that even happen under. Mueller has been investigating this fiasco by letter and spirit of the law. Trump could get no fairer person to handle this.
If this is true that Trump's emotional instability is legend.

He's insane.

(101,416 posts)The idea may be to cause so much chaos that Republicans in Congress have an excuse to say "let's wait until we have sorted everything out". And then they delay and delay, while hoping this is enough to get them re-elected in gerrymandered districts.
They've got their main objective - they managed to hold the Republican vote together for long enough to slash taxes for the rich. After that, the next job is staying in power, by any means possible.

Were >< this close to losing the country to this asshole and his patrons forever.
Ive never been afraid for the country like I am now. Weve long been in unprecedented territory and no one is doing anything to stop him.

(82,849 posts)If Trump decides to go full dictator, there will be a horde of flying monkeys on every cable channel explaining how this shows Trump's resolute leadership, his uncanny understanding of what the American people want, and how he's just a humble servant of the people, doing what he was elected to do. The hosts will nod sagely, make a half-hearted stab at how "some people" might differ, but in the end they'll simply acquiesce and wait for the next cocktail party invitation.

(384 posts)The last 24 hrs suggests (1) there are no legal, political, or ethical brakes on this Administration, and (2) that the entire GOP is engaged in a concerted effort to destroy the rule of law.
I will now raise the hair on fire possibility of turning on the news in a few months to watch Robert Mueller being lead into a federal courthouse in order to be indicted on some groundless, trumped up (quite literally) federal charges, while RW lunatics curse and spit on him.
Welcome to the show trial era, folks.
