"Yes, I watched the entire SOTU address. Yes, expletives were deployed loudly."

Yes, I watched the entire SOTU address. Yes, expletives were deployed — loudly. Not too many surprises, but two quick observations on how the coup plays out from here.

1) He asked Congress, twice by my count, to grant the Executive branch (and the president's cabinet) authority to simply fire people at will — for "failure" to the American people. Exsqueeze me? It's one thing to 'serve at the pleasure of the president,' it's quite another for department heads across all sectors of government to start weeding out federal employees who prove "disloyal" to POTUS, by standing up for the rule of law and our Constitution.

2) Drawing a parallel — repeatedly — between MS13 gang members and the DREAMers really is a new low; he (Mr. Miller, no doubt) made certain that his description of these drug dealers and killers (cue the weeping family) got into the country ... 'as children, illegally' and I felt sick to my stomach.

This is not normal. I won't be satisfied, until we depose the boy king and return to reason and civility — back to a time when presidents spoke in complete sentences.

"For of those to whom much is given, much is required. And when at some future date the high court of history sits in judgment on each of us—recording whether in our brief span of service we fulfilled our responsibilities to the state—our success or failure, in whatever office we hold, will be measured by the answers to four questions:

"First, were we truly men of courage—with the courage to stand up to one’s enemies—and the courage to stand up, when necessary, to one’s associates—the courage to resist public pressure, as well as private greed?

"Secondly, were we truly men of judgment—with perceptive judgment of the future as well as the past—of our mistakes as well as the mistakes of others—with enough wisdom to know what we did not know and enough candor to admit it.

"Third, were we truly men of integrity—men who never ran out on either the principles in which we believed or the men who believed in us—men whom neither financial gain nor political ambition could ever divert from the fulfillment of our sacred trust?

"Finally, were we truly men of dedication—with an honor mortgaged to no single individual or group, and comprised of no private obligation or aim, but devoted solely to serving the public good and the national interest?

"Courage—judgment—integrity—dedication—these are the historic qualities … which, with God’s help … will characterize our Government’s conduct in the 4 stormy years that lie ahead." — President-elect John F. Kennedy

feeling sick to my stomach. When he entered his request to Congress to grant his Executive branch and cabinet unlimited power in firing people at will who failed the American people, I leaped to my feet and had to restrain myself from not taking my ire out on my teevee set. For a president of the United States to try to usurp that kind of power should have every loyal American up in arms! My blood pressure went through the roof and it took Joe Kennedy, III and his wonderful speech to return me to some semblance of normal. I really cannot take much more of this. Where are the pitchforks?

Then has that fucking smirk of his. I look for things to hurl at the tv. I chose to watch the first season SOTU episode of the West Wing. Not only to calm my nerves, but to save my TV.

My blood pressure has been up and down all over the place, partly because of DOTUS. I couldn't do, and my husband didn't want it on our tv.

I'd proclaimed that I wasn't going to, but way back before I ever understood anything about what goes on in DC, I voluntarily defended our country against the "Red Tide". Health issues are one thing, but the head-in-the-ground approach is the same as going AWOL. Just about every war epic features at least one soldier who cowers and whimpers while his fellow fighters are fighting and collapsing all around him. Non-engagers are like that shell shocked fighter - not wanting to face up to what apathy, ignorance and selfishness have wrought. This country needs it's collective nose rubbed in this stinking mess so that we'll never be complacent and complicit in doo-dooing our own carpets again.

Trump uttered a few echos from his "You-all-get-a-pony!" days - of course, with the results of his first year in office, we all know that anything for the greater good is simply monkey shit. And we of the enlightened already KNEW he'd be throwing out shit-biscuits to feed his base (and they truly are base). So last night I watched the biggest fraud we've ever put in office paint a facade of lies and their resultant deception. I and the rest of us who loathe this phony needed to have a refresher course of nose-rubbing to remind ourselves that there are enemies within, and not just on far-flung battlefields. The ostrich maneuver ain't gonna get it.

played their parts. Protection Racket Rhetoric was the play's theme.

Happy to see Pelosi's immobile, implacable hard stare -- on principle. I love that woman.

How unlike Pelosi's was Melania's, and for entirely different reasons.

Big Theme: Safety, Security, and how we all must Rally-As-One to stay One American Family. The eery evilness of this protection racket psyops is chilling.
