Why I think Gowdy is leaving?

"Put me in the job...I will fire Rosenstein tomorrow."

I can imagine Gowdy saying those words to Donald Trump.

But all we know right now is that Gowdy is leaving his Congressional seat and has said he wants to get back into working with justice.

Now, what could he have meant by those remarks?

Could he be a replacement for Sessions or Rosenstein, if either of them leaves or is fired?

He will gladly carry the water for Donald Trump.

Donald has no use for Sessions anymore. Then, Rosenstein would lose his power if a new AG comes in, that is not recused from the Russia investigation.

perhaps he read something and heard something that DOTUS is going down. He might be trying to make a slow exit so his geographic unavailability will decrease the likelihood that he will be subpoenaed to rat out the rest of them. He might be devious enough to see it coming.

Trump goes after just about everybody in his sphere. Gowdy may not be smart enough to know that he'll be taking a ride down shit's creek attaching himself to this administration. But it's so obvious at this point. Hard to know what plan he has for his future.

Maybe Mueller should yank him in for a conversation. That could make Gowdy brand new. Mueller's questions would give Gowdy a lot of info about exactly what Mueller already knows. Enough to make anyone run the other way from Trump.

The only reason Rosenstein is in charge is because Sessions is recused.

If a new AG takes over, then Mueller reports to the new AG.

Dunno if it's true, but if he thinks that Mueller et al might be coming for him he may want to be in a position to make a deal. Might be a bit uncomfortable to go in the office and face everybody you just ratted out. Just speculating here, but if anybody knows where the bodies are buried it'd be him...

He then went public with the information, a few days before the election, and quite possibly cost her the election?
