Anthony Scaramucci Defends Trump's Constant Deception Because It's Not "Absolute Lying"

Alternet
June 1, 2018

President Donald Trump's former communications director Anthony Scaramucci on MSNBC Friday evening defended the president's frequent and excessive lying by saying he simply has a unique "communications style."
Trump's tendency to embellish, Scaramucci argued, is not the same as the "absolute lying" that the media accuses him of.

The topic came up on the show "The Beat," when filmmaker Rob Reiner asked Scaramucci why Trump "lies all the time."

"There's different shades of that," Scaramucci said.
"He's an embellisher of stories, he is a macro-wave surfer, if you will.
And so he will tell a big tale and a big story, and so now the media is conflating that with absolute lying."

Scaramucci didn't explain what "absolute lying" is.
But Trump does demonstrably lie all the time and has done so in public for years.
He has even written about how lying is a strategy to get what he wants.

I must say that Rob Reiner was very cool and polite. I don't know how he did it personally.

"This Is Spinal Tap" and "Stand By Me" are two of my all-time favorite films.

Maybe he gets his "cool and polite" gene from his father, (who has won nine Emmy Awards)

He and Mel Brooks are doing what they can to resist the moron. Both are in their 90s and sharp as tacks. Spinal Tap is my Desert Island movie (brilliant). I walked through the snow in Phila in 84 to see it...worth every step.

bad enough the public has to listen to Trump lie all the time without MSNBC giving Trump's mouthpieces a platform to lie for him.

A lie is lie. Just like pregnant is pregnant. Will someone put Scaramucci back in his pencil box and turn out the light on your way out please?

that was one thing.

And I assure you everyone listening knew he was lying. How they chose to treat his lies is on them.

But now that the liar is telling those same lies to the world at large - it matters.

Trump is a liar. He doesn't get a pass like you all gave him. Laughing at his dumb jokes. Telling him how great he is after telling one of his feel-good big tales. Just because you all begged for the chance to be Trump's door mat doesn't mean the rest of us want to be.

Trump is a liar.

Plain and simple.
