President Trump Can Preemptively Pardon His Advisers And Family, But Will He?
There is precedent, surprisingly, for doing so. President Gerald Ford did exactly that in 1974 with Proclamation 4311, pardoning then former President Richard Nixon before Nixon faced any formal charges.

(99,719 posts)Usually they occur after convictions but as we have seen in the Nixon instance prospective pardons can be granted,

Trump's motivation for pardoning a prior associate(s) ahead of conviction would be perceived as being entirely different and blatantly self-serving.

(99,719 posts)Why should that act be perceived as different from any other act by Trump ?

(8,982 posts)Otherwise yes, Trump can always be depended on to be Trump. Catering to his own self-preservation at the expense of all other considerations.

(5,586 posts)A pardon removes jeopardy if he were to testify against any co-conspirators or other criminal acts he was involved in.
