If a tree falls in the woods and nobody hears it, did it really make a sound?
If Donnie "P.T. Barnum"Trump tweets and nobody responds, has it had its full impact? No! Cause that's what he wants. He puts out a continual stream of BS to distract us and the media from what is really important. It's the one thing he does really well--because he's been doing it all his life.
Nobody should want to be a part of enabling this media circus. Nobody should fall for it and react to it. Only to what he actually does--which should be enough to keep us occupied.

(10,252 posts)I switch to classical music FM radio. What do you want to bet that Trump has NEVER been to a NY symphony performance, or the Met, or the NY ballet, or a museum? Or the library? He's an asshole.

(4,407 posts)If we were focusing on the horror of what ICE is doing to children, we could affect the way people vote. Instead the press plays into the us against them of the Philadelphia Eagles and Trump's tweets, bringing out the angry white men to vote.
You are right, but I'm pretty hopeless that the "Fourth Estate" can do any better.

(17,276 posts)Most of them go for the sensational, and the easy back and forth stuff. You would think there is enough harsh reality out there to report on that would get them some viewer attention.
The immigrants, hurricane victims, and so many more.

(11,885 posts)Needs to stop showing his tweets as propaganda , which is what they are, nothing more. Every time they show them, or show clips of him or others promoting their propaganda it is exactly what he's wanting . They need to stop it, and same with his repeated lies he's always promoting. That's what helped him get in that position in the first place.

(17,276 posts)Back in the days of three channels and Walter Cronkite for just a half hour of news per day, the purpose was to inform. Since 24 hr cable news it seems their purpose is to entertain. To keep all eyes glued to them, to keep the channel on in the background of all daily activities. it's a pity.
I still like the old school reporting, like BBC news every night on PBS. It's refreshing. We cut the cable eight years ago and have never for one second regretted it. Anything you really want to see is online anyway.
