Hello. I apologize if this isn't appropriate discussion.
I am from Philly - born and raised there and spent the first 25 years of my life there. I currently live a few minutes outside of Philly and I am in the city several times a week to visit family and friends.
Philly does have an ugly side. My hometown neighborhood is leans red, voted Trump, worships the 5-0, and has a racism problem. Still, the city as a whole is progressive, friendly, and beautiful.
All that rambling to say.....I wore my Eagles Superbowl shirt today. I noticed, in my white little suburb, a lot of green while I was out today. It's not unusual to see Eagles gear daily, but what I saw today reminded me of the weeks leading up to the super bowl as our team pride grew. It made me feel a bit better, knowing that many of these shirts were probably worn as an F.U. to Trump.
Additionally, my kids' school does an event where the kiddos dress up as admirable people and give a short speech about them. There were many who chose civil rights figures, anti-Nazi war heroes, and LGBTQI folks. I was delighted to see so many young people choosing to represent those on the correct side of justice and history. Gives me hope.
Just wanted to share.
