Paul Krugman goes ballistic on media 'both siderism'

New York Times columnist on Sunday unleashed an epic rant at media outlets who entertain both sides of a political argument even when one side is “completely insane.”

Krugman began his tweet storm on Sunday by noting that President Donald Trump is mostly interested in solving problems “that exist only in his warped imagination.”

The Pulitzer Prize-winning writer went on to say that journalists treat Trump’s talking points as “real” because they are “afraid to say the president is out of touch with reality.”

Read Krugman’s entire rant below.

His valid points really need to be widely disseminated. This is what got Trump elected and it’s what is keeping his reign in power. The worst offenders is CNN. The NY Times,Washington Post, & USA Today have their moments of both-siderism, but CNN actually pays Trumpsters to spew their lies and hatred.

Trump's dislike of Jeff Bezos has to do with his ownership of the paper.

Krugman has been saying this since 1999.

I canceled my NYT subscription of 27 years in January after Peter Baker wrote an above the fold article on Jan 2 doing EXACTLY this. Exhibiting Pro-trump bias by pretending he was doing something real, instead of saying that he is unhinged, lying, and corrupt.

We have three kinds of media: truth-seeking journalism, profit-first infotainment, and GOP propaganda media.

Here we are talking about the biggest problem with the truth-seeking media - the first one. That is: bothsidesim and “savviness” - talking about who won and refusing to state the truth, that the president is a corrupt liar backed by a corrupt party.

And this isn't meant to be confrontational because I agree with you on the three different types of media. I'd just like to know what you consider to be some of the "truth-seeking media" are. As a journalist, I get frustrated with some of my colleagues, but I also occasionally get annoyed at the constant denigration of our work as a whole. Do we make mistakes? Of course. Are some journalists more concerned with their ratings than their reporting? Assuredly. But the journalists I've know in my 34-year career are overwhelmingly honest and hard-working. Then again, most of them work in local media, at newspapers that serve metro areas both large and small.

So what are your go-to "truth-seeking media"?

Thanks, in advance, for responding.

Democrats are long overdue for establishing a new narrative. Because the truth of the matter is, the mainstream/corporate media is - on the whole - incredibly irresponsible. But still Republicans push the "liberal media" narrative with great success.

Given how close the race was, any one of numerous factors (such as Russia and voter suppression) could be blamed for Trump being in the White House. One of those factors is without a doubt the mainstream media, and that doesn't get talked about enough.

In fact, I'd say...sorry, I'm being told Andrea Mitchell of "liberal" MSNBC has yet more breaking news about Clinton's emails...

continuing interference and propaganda by the Russians. There has been an uptick in the insane memes from the trumpers in my family and especially an evangelical woman who constantly posts things that are religious in nature, right along with her political memes. I would block her, but she keeps up to date on what is happening in trumpland. Really disturbing.
