(60,010 posts)Not 24 hours after Trump justified being angry at Canada, a plan has been announced to strengthen the border against all those immigrants and terrorists pouring over the northern border, in light of Canada being a bad neighbor.
A common question people ask about Germany, is....the people who left early, in time, how did they know to leave, and why did so many stay until it was too late?
I am starting to understand now.
Among the early leavers were those whose relatives, usually parents, had first hand experience elsewhere of the signs.
Some left because people they respected urged them to.
Some cause they were smart and could see it coming.
There were reasons for staying, of curse. Afford-ability would be one. And the ever present human nature the supports denial. and, I suspect, some stayed because of family ties, even tho they saw the danger.
In my case, afford-ability. Which is silly, in a way, because cutting Soc. Sec. is high on the list, so in the end, it won't matter.

(44,130 posts)enough for us, rv parks in Mexico are reasonably priced. Run for the border.

(60,010 posts)The border becomes swamped with Americans trying to flee TO Mexico.
I wonder if there has a flood of visa requests. They are slow enough in a normal world.

Soon Trump is going to set up tent consentration camps for children separated from their parents by his fascist ICE.
Does the MSM cry out? Of course not. They are deep into Trumps MAGA fascist vision.
Trump has no one to stop him. The media cheers him on as he stabs democracies in the back and breaks bread with filthy murderers.
The Democratic Party is locked out of power praying for a blue wave in the fall and hoping Robert Mueller and the rule of law will prevail somehow.
I think Trump and the GOP will not allow this unstoppable power to slip out of their hands.
Beware this fall as we come closer and closer to the midterms. Like the old song said: I see a bad moon rising.

(60,010 posts)I got a chill when he "joked" about wanting to be President for life, right after Putin's so called election.
One thing we know Trump likes to do is throw a teaser out there, like some god damn tv show.
Now AT&T is gonna have so power over tv/internet. they were the FIRST to implement Bush's black ops of collecting everyone's email. Those powers have only grown since then.
Doesn't take a genius to see nasty possibilities.

(3,299 posts)It's obvious from the whole format of activities in Singapore. Moon's administration is guiding them. Pompeo went directly to Seoul right after the summit.
It's ethnocentric to think that this whole thing revolves around Trump.

I was kicking this situation with one of my best friends and we both agreed that were we still in our 20s we would think hard about trying to move to Ontario. I mean with all he has said and done and still about 40% support him? The dumbing down of the USA is stunning.

(11,544 posts)ABC, CBS, and NBC they are the main ones fawning over Trumps meeting. But places like The View all the ladies and especially Meghan which surprised me knew it was fluff to make him look good and not a real deal with no mention of how horrible he treats his people. Meghan was angry super angry at how the North Korean flags were next to ours.
I agreed with her for once, it was a shame!

(7,947 posts)well, we deserve to be wrecked.
But... this is the same country that just elected Obama twice by majorities, and even if you have issues with Obama, he was/is a very good non-tyrant with, as someone said, the best temperament of any pres since FDR (and maybe since Jefferson).
We are a pendulum nation. Of course, we swung to the WORST temperament you could have in a president.
But most of us despise him. We just have to remember that, and stop thinking of these racist Trumpians as all-powerful.
Another state seat flipped in Wisconsin... maybe this is what we need to go back to running more state legislatures and Howard Dean's 50-state project. (Can Dean run for pres?)
