'Real Talk 910' Returns Progressive Talk To San Francisco
Personally I'd rather listen to KQED, the local NPR affiliate, but if you're in the Bay Area and want to listen to the few remaining progressive talk hosts check this out:
iHeartMedia San Francisco will launch Real Talk 910, a progressive talk format on Tuesday, June 12, featuring such well known lib talk names as Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartman, Norman Goldman and consumer expert Clark Howard. Cory Callewaert has been named PD of the new station, which replaces ESPN Deportes KKSF.
Real Talk 910 will feature forward-thinking political talk and opinions that embrace the values of social, economic and environmental justice, along with human rights, democracy and multiculturalism, a release read. In addition to its nationally-syndicated talk show line-up, Real Talk 910 will air the iHeartRadio Daily Dive news podcast weekday mornings at 5:40am. The station plans to add additional podcast content to weekend programming over the next few weeks.
When Air America Radio first came out, the Bay Area's progressive talk station used to be 960 the Quake (later Green 960 and 960 KNEW) from 2004 to 2013. 960 later became a conservative talk station for the first half of 2014 and has been a Bloomberg Radio affiliate since later that year.
Meanwhile, the 910 station did pick up the Randi Rhodes and Alan Colmes shows before flipping to the Spanish-language ESPN Deportes sports network in the summer of 2016.
