Justice Dept. announces "Place to Worship Initiative" to build, buy or rent.

NEW: Justice Dept. announces "Place to Worship Initiative,” focusing on "protecting the ability of houses of worship and other religious institutions to build, expand, buy, or rent facilities."

Oh this looks terrible, like a massive ability to land grab.

Sorry I cannot paste the statement, its a pic.

this only applies to Christian churches.

Say good-bye to your yards if a church wants to expand their parking lot.

Oh, this will probably force public schools to rent (or "donate&quot space to churches too.

with my plans to build a worship center dedicated to pastafarianism in my neighborhood. I shall call it Giorgio's Holy House of Pasta.

Dinner services will be held between 5-12 P.M. Reservations required.

5. Basically, they want to get rid of zoning laws as they apply to churches.

Wouldn't you like to have one of these mega-churches in your neighborhood?

but the build, expand, buy or rent facilities sure fits. Must be making a loophole.

This web page and the RLUIPA need to be watched closely.

Mine will allow me to smoke weed, refuse service to evangelical christians, stop paying taxes....

Let's all start silly religions and take advantage of these freedom laws.

I can hear the call to prayer now, ringing out from minarets in every neighborhood. That would remind me of my time in Turkey in the USAF. Just off base, across the fence from my barracks, there was such a neighborhood mosque. I can't say, though, that the Imam there had a wonderful singing voice. Still, five times a day, the call rang out.

On a serious note...

Fuck this shit. Bunch of Sons of Jacob wannabe tyrants.

Theocrats who will discriminate against religions not to their liking.

All bullshit. Playing the victim when they are so clearly not the victims of anything - but manufacturing a crisis that needs special laws - laws designed to oppress everyone else - to "protect" them.

Just let people want to build a mosque - and see how fast "religious freedom" doesn't apply to the "other".

No, this isn't about religious freedom - this is about creating special rights for religion ( and even then - the desired religion)
