Late drop. Direction has been positive lately, especially for small caps which reached all time highs recently and are now just shy of that.

The S&P is maybe 3.5% below the January peak of 2872

Market up slightly more than 4% year to date and that's fine.

It was only that overly exuberant January that led to wild projections based on how that type of move often plays out. I didn't believe it, not coming off such a strong 2017.

I like to use this link for clarity purposes. It shows market along with each sector and can be adjusted to various time frames:

the great Korean deal - the greatest Korean deal of all time - the Dow would have gone sky high. Instead, it hardly reacted at all.

That in itself tells you something about how inconsequential this deal really is.

the markets had priced in over a 90% chance of a hike, it really came as no surprise.

it's not that global events are unrepresented in the DJIA's performance, it's just that there are so damn many of them that it takes something really huge to affect the DJIA substantially for more than a few days.

We don't have to worry about NK ever again. Dear Leader is really just misunderstood. He is really a wonderful, extremely , hugely trustworthy guy. And the N. Koreans all just think he is the bestus leader ever.

it's a huge bigly deal that will keep us safe at night - no really! that 120-pt drop is due entirely to the selloff of MyPillow stock now that everyone is sleeping so well.
