I've had many fights here about that and about the quality of her reporting. Just watch this hour. All of it.
I don't know what people want her to do, or how they want her to present it. Maybe they want her to speak in a nice baritone instead of a light soprano. I don't care. Just stop carrying water for the "fake news" brigade.
I am clearly distraught about today's news: the small children in prison, the IG Report, the exoneration of Comey for having Clinton Derangement Syndrome, the truth about the timeline at the end of the campaign in 2016, Trumptrumptrump.
But this hour Katy brought The News. She looked at the camera and told Truth to Power. Now she's handing it off to Ali Velshi with a smile and a giggle. Don't like it? Tough. As for me, I have to turn off the tv machine and just walk away for awhile.

(109,025 posts)I missed most of her report today, though, just heard the end where she mentioned that a Texas city had been chosen for a tent city.
Did she mention the name of the city?

I like watching Rachel, occasionally will watch Lawrence O'Donnell, and--I'm not joking here--Brian Williams sometimes helps me go to sleep.

Such excitability is deeply unserious.

(9,581 posts)She brings a nice mix of everything - she can definitely be hard hitting. There are DUers who think she carries water for trump? No way - she can't stand him. He endangered her life on a number of occasions when she was covering him during the campaign.

(91,039 posts)I use "Hitler" advisedly, because it was he who hammered home to the German people that the press was the enemy of the State and that they were the Lugenpresse, the Lying Press.
We are fools ourselves if we fail to differentiate between good news sources, mediocre sources, and the real liars, i.e. FOX news.

(130,043 posts)and looking up "cue" vs "queue" for usage. Various definitions out there pretty much noted that they come from the same root and have been used interchangeably (particularly in the U.S.). I ended up settling on using "Right on cue".

(130,043 posts)Am a 30+ year now-retired fed but I know I never used the word "queue" for lining up (we never really lined up for anything - just went when called...lol) although I know folks in the UK use that quite a bit! Used to work at my radio station in college and we would "cue" a record up to play before the current one was done but then if we had a playlist to use, we knew what was "in the queue" to play.

(6,817 posts)Swings with the wind. Takes no fortitude to be on the side of protesting the detention of children. She is just not very strong or knowledgeable in her interviews. I turn her off as she adds nothing to my understanding of current news. Put Casy Hunt, Kelly ODonnell, Christen Welker, Hallie Jackson, Alex Witt, Richard Liu, and Crag Melvin in that mix, also.

One thing I like about Katy Tur is she comes across as a real journalist, not so much a personality. The whole personality-driven news media is getting exhausting and often barely watchable. Even people that I generally like, tend to interject themselves into their stories too often.

(6,817 posts)There are rare occasions when she exhibits some semblance of journalistic insight. Mostly, her patter is devoid of facts, usable information, or critical thinking. For me, she is a waste of time. I have certainly seen her show or her subbing gigs. That is what I base my opinion on. Have no fear, I am one of those who no longer watch her. Curious as to your rather intense defense of her. She is young perhaps she will improve or become another Andrea Mitchell. Carry on and remain calm for as a wise man once said, Katy Tur is far better and many levels higher than anyone at Fox.

(6,817 posts)No troll am I. I just dont like Ms. Tur. Makes no difference to me if those who like her think she is best thing since cotton candy. My preferences are Chris Hayes, Rachael Maddow, Lawrence ODonnell, Joy Reid, Nicole Wallace, Stephanie Ruhle, Ali Velshi, Ari Melber. They keep me informed with facts and background information.
