Re: Detained Kids, You Do The Crime, You Pay the Time

So, yesterday I went out for brunch with a friend (a tRUMP voter). We try not to ever talk politics, but politics came up yesterday. The conversation went to the kids at the border. So, my friend said "Look, you do the crime, you pay the time." I responded with, "First of all, no one here committed a crime! These are families seeking asylum." My friend didn't care. So, then I said "This is is the most inhumane thing imaginable, and it isn't being done by some god forsaken country, it is being done by The United States of America! Where is your compassion?!" She repeated her mantra, and I repeated that there was no crime involved. This conversation was going nowhere. So, I finally said, "Well, I just hope you remember your little mantra when tRUMP and his family and his cronies all get hauled out to jail for obstruction of justice, money laundering, tax evasion, etc. When you and the other tRUMP supporters start whining that everyone you worship is being carted off to jail, I will just remind you of your mantra, You Do The Crime, You Pay the Time!"

We ended that brunch with me just fuming inside!

On a side note, when I listed the obstruction of justice, etc. I didn't mention Russian collusion because I wasn't sure if that of itself was a crime.
