https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/18/business/audi-chief-executive-rupert-stadler.htmlWhen evidence emerged that Audi had played a major role in developing illegal emissions software on Mr. Stadlers watch, he and most other top executives kept their jobs. When an outside monitor faulted Volkswagen for failing to hold executives accountable, Mr. Stadler stayed in place. And when Munich prosecutors identified him last week as a suspect in their investigation and searched his home for evidence, Volkswagen said its management board had not even discussed his dismissal.
That run may well be ending, however. On Monday, German authorities arrested Mr. Stadler, 55, holding him indefinitely pending trial, an acute embarrassment for Volkswagen and one that could finally prod the company to action.

This is how you treat corporate malfeasance!

(9,687 posts)1. Exactly! those levering the power, can count their hours.
You make sure the CEO's understand that the threat of actual jail time falls directly on themselves, prevent them from hiding behind some bullshit corporate PR statement, and especially, keep any out-of-the-loop scapegoats from being thrown under the bus.
Fuck the fines, real jail time.

(82,849 posts)2. Oh, in Germany
I would have been flabbergasted if this had happened in Donald Trump's America. I wonder if Alan Dershowitz will decry this incarceration without conviction, like he did for Paul Manafort?
