If you want to know what it's like to be a young child separated from his or her family....

...do yourself a favor and watch the movie "Lion".

It's an excellent movie, based on a pretty incredible true story of an Indian man named Saroo Brierly who was accidentally separated from his family in India as a young boy, eventually adopted by an Australian couple, and then later set out to find his birth family using the help of Google Maps.

But the first hour of the movie shows Saroo as a 5 year old boy separated from his family and wandering all over India and through the orphanages and homes desperately trying to find his way back home. It is absolutely gut-wrenching to watch.
