An ER doc on the traumatized border children placed with non-Spanish-speaking foster parents

click on the pics to get the full story. It's an ER doctor in Denver, who saw 3 children placed with foster parents there for typical childhood illnesses. The foster parents are experienced, but they don't speak Spanish. And the children are obviously terrified - they won't let go of the foster mother, to the extent one says she can't work out how to bathe a little girl, who screams every time she's put down, and the foster mother isn't allowed to get into a bath-tub with her.

Does anyone know how to volunteer to foster any of these children? My home isn’t Disney World, but there is a great deal of love here—enough to spread around.

Your home will be inspected, they will do a complete background check on everyone living there, will check with your friends, family, employer, church ect.
If all goes well, and after all kinds of hoops that one has to jump through, and a mountain of paperwork they will issue one a license to be foster parents.
If you can Please try...good foster homes are very hard to find!

I will check to see the length of time it would take to reopen my file. I know the paperwork has expired. I don’t have much, but we can give love and compassion without bars and emotional scars, and that seems to be needed right now.

Although the foster families had taken in traumatized children before, they were floundering because they had absolutely no idea when, if, or how these children would be brought back to their parents.

"They had no information on hearing dates/times for the parents; they had no contact information for the parents; they had no idea if/when visitation or contact would be allowed, and they didn't have access to a case worker who could obtain this information," Neubrand wrote. "These children, those lucky ones who 'made it' into caring foster homes, were floating, unanchored to their past or their future."
