It's simple, Trump is too stupid and insensitive to do the right thing.

He thinks he needs to look, "strong" in this situation. He is just too stupid and insensitive to know he does not look "strong", but he looks like an insensitive asshole. He is showing his true self.

Release the kids to their parents, and try to pick up the pieces and move on. But he cannot say those 4 words...."I made a mistake"........................how stupid can he be...?...think about this......

..Isn't that the reason why they put erasers on pencils?.......

Throwing the U.S. into chaos is part of Putin's master plan, just as separating us from our allies is a part of Putin's plan.

Trump's actions are determined by one thing only: what does Putin want. Trump's character defect is that he is so lacking in morals and character that he doesn't care what havoc is wreaked on individuals or that he is selling out his country. Trump will do whatever he has to do to stay on Putin's side so that Trump gets paid and his secrets don't get leaked out.
