Fox News is defending Laura Ingraham amid calls for an advertiser boycott of her show.
Laura Ingrahams very personal, on-the-ground commitment to the plight of impoverished and abandoned childrenspecifically in Guatemala speaks for itself, a Fox News spokesperson said in a statement Tuesday. So too does her strong belief in a commonsense, legal immigration system, which will continue to be a focus of her show. FOX News will never tolerate or give in to attempts to silence diverse viewpoints by agenda-driven intimidation efforts.
The statement came Tuesday as calls for an advertiser boycott against Ingraham grew. None of the advertisers on Ingrahams Fox News show, The Ingraham Angle, have withdrawn their ads from her show.
Ingraham has drawn strong criticism on social media for her coverage of Trump administration immigration policies that have led to nearly 2,000 children being separated from their families. On her show Monday, Ingraham compared detention centers housing undocumented immigrant children to summer camps [or] boarding schools. Her comments came on the same day that ProPublica published dramatic audio of children being detained by immigration agents screaming for their parents.

Summer camp? Boarding school? I bet she couldn't last 10 minutes in a plastic tent in triple digit desert temperatures.

According to a report by Gabriel Sherman in Vanity Fair, the network is struggling to sell ad space on their 9 and 10 PM respective programs.
While Fox News dominated the ratings in Maya fact Trump bragged about on Saturdaythe network is having new difficulties monetizing its most pro-Trump programming. According to three sources briefed on the numbers, advertising revenues for Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham are down in recent months. The pro-Trump thing isnt working. We cant monetize DACA and the wall and that right-wing shit, one staffer said. Despite all the hype on Hannity, they cant sell it, another insider told me. (Tucker Carlsons show is faring better, sources said).
This follows an October 2017 report that Fox News ad revenue had dropped 17% year over year, at the same time that ad revenue at other cable news networks was relatively stable.

As more illegal immigrants are rushing the border, more kids are being separated from their parents, Ingraham said during her show last night. And temporarily housed at what are, essentially, summer camps.
To underscore her point, Ingraham cited a news report from The San Diego Union-Tribune that compared the camps to boarding schools.

The media and internet company IAC will no longer be running ads for HomeAdvisor or Angies List on the show, an IAC spokesperson confirmed on Thursday. The day after Ingrahams statements, David Hogg, a survivor of the high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, called on advertisers, including IAC, to boycott Ingraham, a reprise of the highly successful boycott campaign he launched against her in April, after she insulted him on Twitter.
Politico notes that others may have bailed because there have been fewer spots offered. Fox News contends the boycott is not hurting them:
A Fox News spokesperson said the network was unaffected by any loss in advertising resulting from Ingrahams latest comments.
Theres been no impact on our business, and new advertisers continue to opt in for our powerful prime-time lineup, the spokesperson said.
