(115,681 posts)Wouldn't it be nice if, instead of landing in England to see the queen, the plane continued on to the Netherlands to stand trial at the Hague?
I wish it could be possible, but it isn't.

(10,721 posts)Many of the children are thousands of miles from their parents, some of whom have been deported and have no means to fight a legal battle to get their kids back.

(37,648 posts)People (who?) will have to try to locate their parents.
HOWEVER, I am betting that some of the children didn't come here with their parents. I saw a documentary or some film about this subject, and it explained that it's costly to migrate. Not only do they need food & drink & such, they have to PAY a guide to take them. The guides often charge per person. In the film I watched, the mother could only afford to send one person, so she was sending one of her children....something like that. (An older child, I guess...I don't remember.)
They sometimes have relatives in the States, or someone to contact. The whole thing is very dangerous, to say the least. Anyway, some of the children will not have parents to be "located" here, since they never came.
I would imagine that there is no way to contact the parents in Guatemala or wherever because of no phones & such.
I read somewhere that one father was deported without his son a while back, and has since committed suicide, after being unable to get his son for months.
But I'm hopeful they'll locate most of the parents. After all, they don't want the kids to stay HERE. They've made that pretty clear.
