? When they say Trump's popularity among Republicans is

Higher than any Republican in ages....surely that's just a subgroup of the people who voted for him, right?

Because the other day they were saying that people who affiliate themselves with the Republican party is shrinking.

Even here in a red state, I have never encountered as many Republicans as I have lately who don't like their president.

Why they are making such a big deal about his approval among Republicans is a mystery. Because in actuality...it's just his core crazy base of idiots that he's hanging on to.

Afterall, he is the first Reality TV president. It is all about image and high ratings. That he rates 90% amongst Republicans, that still call themselves thus, have basically thrown thrown away any morality they may have had.

Away morality. How would you create a 2020 campaign based on that? Yeah!! Rah rah, separate babies from their mothers!!!

His Republican enthusiasts?

or

His Republican non-enthusiasts who will still back him because they're so busy believing every right-wing horseshit claim about Democrats they still think he's the lesser of two evils?

Gosh, some of them took down their signs and left their hats in the closet, but unless they break with him and his enablers -- the whole freaking Republican Party -- they might as well be chanting his name and naming their babies after him.

"Has a sad" is not action.

It's not cool to be outwardly FOR him but will vote for him again. So it all boils down to us appealing to the cream of the crop of those who probably voted for him the first time. The Krystals, the Schmidts, the Scarboroughs.... Makes me think we need a Dem who is more conservative. Or at least someone who exudes morality without having to put down the lack of morality of trump. However much that sucks.

Among a shrinking group of people still willing to call themselves Republicans.

Many of the people who don't like him now self identify as Independent.

Actually, though, though I have read that it's dropping, Gallup doesn't wholeheartedly support that. From his election to Jan of 17 it was high 20 percents, low thirties. The latest as of May is 26%.It's been down as low as 22% in Jan, and the 26% was before thw baby kidnappings.

But still, not as big a drop as decency would demand.

...despite the examples seen in our political "leaders." Ordinary people don't like admitting they were wrong, and don't have spin machines for cover. They don't suddenly turn Democrat, but their enthusiasm for the GOP does fade, and some of the people who would have happily turned out to vote Republican have to wash their hair that day, and aren't reinforcing the echo chamber's messaging as much.

Fewer than a hundred thousand votes in key states made 2016 a Trump win, and he's been shitting on everyone since.

Seeing a rise in Dem party affiliation numbers. So in 2020 it will all be about the two people running. Maybe more than ever maybe not
