We can of course be allies for those who have been victims of oppression, but that does not mean that our perspective taking does not have in built cultural limitations?

people who were expected to be successful being black in a white world. I don't know why a white kid like me was drawn to them other than I had many difficulties where I had to learn coping mechanisms to get along. I saw their struggle as much harder than mine. They were speaking truth to power. That's where the admiration came from.
