The president has shown he can scare Hill Republicans but not get them to vote the way he wants.

House Republicans spent weeks crafting a compromise immigration bill slated to hit the House floor Thursday one that tracks with President Donald Trumps call to beef up border security and shield Dreamers from deportation. But the only question going into the big vote is how badly it fails.
After laboring to strike a deal between moderate Republicans from swing districts and immigration hawks wary of being accused of supporting amnesty, GOP leaders say they still dont have the votes.
Its a damaging blow to an already weakened lame-duck speaker, Paul Ryan. His team has downplayed the possibility of passing anything, and the Wisconsin Republican has long maintained that any solution for Dreamers would likely have to be bipartisan.
Some Republicans are predicting that a rival bill authored by immigration hard-liners could garner as many votes as the compromise package, a result that would embarrass leaders whove dismissed the proposal.

(10,437 posts)pushing the discharge petition forward and bypass Ryan and passing a bill supported by democrats and sending to McConnel, where he has to decide to allow a vote as I don't think legislation can be voted on with him moving into the process...
That puts the entire immigration mess of Trump and Republicans all on Mitch the Bitch's shoulders, sometime he has no will to carry as enough republican senators would easily support the bill and send it to trump who has threatened to veto
this is as good as it gets for slamming down the republicans and trump. They made immigration a hostage and now they own it. Going into Nov's election with no bill passed or a tump veto on a bill will not work out for dozens of GOP congressmen running and perhaps 3 or 4 GOP senators.
the anger in democrats is still rising and will not diminished. .Thank you trump
