One of the most heartbreaking stories to come out of the Sandy Hook and Stoneman Douglas shootings

...was how parents of all students were taken to an off site location to be reunited with their children.

I can't believe the emotions that would have gone through in my mind while waiting to see if my child was okay or not.

In the end, most of the parents were reunited with their children.

Those who were not were then told the unspeakably horrific news that there would be no reunion for them.

If--and right now it's still a huge matter of speculation if--the parents of children separated from them at the border are allowed to reunite with their children, there are probably going to be at least a handful of them who will be told that they don't know where their children are; they've been lost in the jumble.

And that is the absolute worst news a parent could ever receive.
