General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI've been busy. Just back on DU. Why did Melania's jacket
say something about her not caring?
What was that supposed to mean:
a) On its surface,
and
b) A deeper meaning?
I can't keep up with these fuckers.
Thank you very much in advance, I appreciate any responses.

(3,430 posts)... and white power hand signs may be too subtle to broadcast well...so this was the racist dog whistle to their cultic base.

(17,479 posts)let's say you or I bought some clothing with that saying on it. What does it mean? Is it just one of those sayings like "GUESS" or something?

(12,344 posts)I don't see any 48 year old mother wearing a jacket like that, especially not when on an official trip.

(951 posts)It's just kinda a dumb "attitude" statement similar to "talk to the hand" or similar.
Worn by teens who really go out of their way to let everyone know that they don't give a fuck... Especially with it being a faux military style. Rebellious teens really go for the ironic military fashion it seems. DGAF YOLO
If these descriptions have confused you because it sounds nothing like what a FLOTUS would ever... or SHOULD ever wear... welcome to where we all currently are haha.
There are no meanings of this jacket with a positive angle, that is for sure. The MOST INNOCENT reason would be absolute tone-deafness. That already is inexcusable when you have an entire PR team at your disposal.

(1,652 posts)It's literally spelled out. It's the writing on the wall. You don't wear slogan jackets by accident. Can you imagine her picking up a jacket that sells for $39 for any other reason?
Just like Trump wore a neo-Nazi outfit of khakis and white pants a few days after Charlottesville.
We don't need to ask if it was on purpose or what it meant. It meant what it says it meant. I think Trump wanted her to wear it, but he can say he didn't. They are peas in a pod.
