Would a positive, uniting message be the best way to defeat Trump?

His entire strategy seems to be "divide and conquer". "Democrats are to blame for everything", he says. "Somebody else should have fixed this North Korea mess before I came in", he says.

He divides our nation in a very toxic way. It cannot come to a good end. Do we really want to be the nation of Donald Trump's imagination? If so, we are a very sick country.

Is it a mistake to get down in the mud with Trump and this bunch of Republicans? Would it not be a better strategy to appeal to the goodness in our people and to set our goals to a higher standard?

His foreign policy seems to be speak loudly and carry a small stick. Is his loud arrogance really what America is looking for?

Is there a good, pithy way to express such a message that would resonate with the electorate?

No, women aren't second class citizens, you aren't owed respect just because your ancestors demanded respect or killed people, black lives do matter, instead of blaming immigrants for your troubles maybe notice the people who are shutting down your jobs are white people just like you but only richer, caging kids is wrong, and there are Muslims and GLBTQ people here and they're just like everyone else, get over it. Have a nice day. Thank you."

We don't win because I believe it's all rigged. I no longer even believe that people aren't voting, the votes just aren't counted. If that makes me sound crazy remember, if a lie is repeated often enough, people believe it.

I have so little hope left, but, at 70, I also have so little time left, and at this point I don't want to see what's coming.

about ordinary people" - hammer him on all the mean-spirited actions against ordinary folk - millions who have lost healthcare, tax cuts that benefit the rich at the expense of ordinary folk, plans to cut medicare. These are things that are difficult defend because it is about how they treat their fellow Americans.

I am reminded of the Conservative Party in the UK that was defined as the Nasty Party in the 1990s - it was a hard label to get rid of.

Obama never made an effort to make healthcare a moral argument - because it is the right thing to do - and I think that has been a mistake.

Make it about them, personally. They are racist bastards and their dirty complicity should be shoved in their nose, as the voter willing to support this is shamed into admitting open identification with the worst of their own.

If our opponent is abusive, we must tar his enablers, sycophants and quislings with his abuses.

No sanctuary for those who truck with Russians to tear apart American racial wounds.

No sanctuary.

1. Make sure Russia or some other power isn't monkeying with the vote.
2. Unite behind the candidate running as a Democrat no matter who they are. The last election the protest voters who wrote in Bernie, Jill Stein and Mickey Mouse really killed us. People have to get it through their thick skulls that sometimes you have to vote for someone you don't especially like and/or don't especially agree with all the time. Compared to Trump, holding your nose and pulling the lever is easy.
