Nail manufacturing exec who voted for Trump blames him for layoffs, asks CLAIRE MCCASKILL for help

An executive for the largest U.S. nail producer who voted for President Trump said he is so dismayed by the president's trade policies that he is lobbying a Democratic senator for help.

George Skarich, vice president of sales for Missouri-based Mid Continent Nail Corporation, told The New York Times that his nail company could soon go out of business.

“He ran on ‘Make America Great Again,’ and the point was to defend and protect jobs in the United States,” Skarich told the Times.

“Now here is an action he decides to take that has the potential to cost 500 U.S. citizens their jobs,” he added, referring to the 25 percent tariffs on steel imports that Trump announced in March.

The tariffs, Skarich said, prompted his company to have to raise its prices by almost 20 percent. Skarich told the Times that his company's orders have dropped by half this month, facing stiff competition from cheaper foreign manufacturers.

The company has reportedly cut 60 jobs and might cut up to 200 more in coming weeks. Skarich said he blames Trump for the layoffs.

Because of the tariffs, Skarich said he is lobbying Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill (Mo.) for help.

In March, Trump implemented tariffs of 25 percent on imported steel and 10 percent on imported aluminum. On Friday, he threatened, in a tweet, to unilaterally impose a 20 percent tariff on European cars.

Voting has consequences, I hope you learned a lesson, however, I kinda doubt it.

And because the current GOP/Trump policies hurt him and others of her state she will try to help regardless of who those people voted for...because that is her job.

And that is the way it should be.

Mr. Skarich might want to consider more than party affiliation next time he goes to vote, but he will probably choose to continue to vote Republican.

I guess this didn't cross his mind. Play with fire, you'll get burned. Unfortunately, because of people like Skarich, people are losing jobs, and it will only get worse. Thanks to this guy's bad decision, others suffer. Where's all that bigly winning?

because he voted for dt and got the tax break, but the tariffs took the jobs....he now turns to the Democrat to untwist it for him and his employees. Up to me, I'd say time for tough love. They knew this was going to happen. Now when Claire can't keep that dt lost...they can and will blame the Democrats for the inevitable end...the jobs are done...either way. Best something good comes out of it....a pain bad enough that 500 people will never vote repub again.
yeah right. They'll blame the job loss on McCaskill.
Every state has lost jobs. Sorry but, the longer we enable dt fans to vote for idiots without consequences, they won't change.
For repubs...it has to touch them personally (in a bad way) or they don't see the light.
Hard lesson. And it's just the beginning of it all.

Oh, yeah, that's right. Her opponent supports the same policies that are killing his business.

Oh Claire... you do have an obligation to help. But maybe you make him sweat a bit. And find a way to get someone to cut a campaign ad blaming Trump and his supporters for this economic loss.

Hi,

I'm George.

I voted for Trump.

He promised to protect jobs in the U.S.

His tariff battles could potentially cost 500 U.S. citizens their jobs.

I blame Trump for the layoffs.

I asked Claire McCaskill for help to save the jobs of 500 U.S. citizens.

Hi,

I'm Claire McCaskill.................................................

Use damaging clips of Trump just to add a little spice.

You get the picture.

did he not ask Trump and his supporters what that involved?

If Trump said "MAGA by jumping off a cliff " would he do it?

That's what happens when you vote for an inane meaningless slogan.
