It's a loophole. It's cheating the system. I don't care who says it was legal. This must be part of the Dem platform: retract ill gotten citizenship. To think the grifter in chief is doing this while kidnapping babies is disgusting beyond belief.

"Birth tourism" is not a Trump-era phenomenon. It's been going on a long time, and Russians are far from the only ones who do it.

The Fourteenth Amendment confers U.S. citizenship on anyone born here, with the statistically negligible exception of children born to foreign ambassadors who enjoy diplomatic immunity. Even if the parents entered illegally -- in fact, even if the mother gives birth while in custody awaiting deportation -- the kid is a citizen.

Offhand, I can't think of any rewording of the Fourteenth Amendment that wouldn't be a disaster on many levels.

The Constitution would probably allow the government to require a pregnancy test of any woman seeking to enter the country, and to bar all those who tested positive. That would be absurd, and would still allow birth tourism, merely restricting it to those wealthy enough to enter while not pregnant and then stay here the full nine months.
