5. SCOTUS

I was (naively) raised to think that SCOTUS was this impartial arbiter to settle the various disputes that come up between the executive and the congress.

They are just politicians in robes, to quote Norman Goldman.

It looks like the Constitution says the president appoints the justices and the senate approves them.

Why not do it like the California Citizens Redistricting Commission, and have an impartial body select the justices?
Or maybe an AI machine could be fed all the pertinent data, come up with a result and the commission could rule on it?
A constitutional amendment happening for this is about as likely as me being elected president...

It was a brilliant dissenting opinion. Rachel set up and explained the whole thing perfectly.

Sotomayor is my favorite, I think.
